    Born in Tennessee

    Born Anna-Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee on 26th November, to parents Zelma Priscilla and Floyd Richard Bullock.

    1950

    Tina Lives with her Grandmother

    When Anna-Mae is 11, her mother Zelma leaves her abusive relationship with Tina’s father and moves to St Louis. Her father Richard remarries and leaves Anna-Mae in the care of her grandmother.

    1956

    Tina Moves to St Louis

    When Anna-Mae is 16, she moves to St Louis to join her mother and sister Alline.

    TINA MEETS IKE TURNER

    At Club Manhattan, Ike Turner asks Anna-Mae to join him on stage and sing with his band, The Kings of
    Rhythm. He’s so impressed with her voice, he asks her to join the band as its first female member.

    Tina Turner, who has died at the age of 83, was widely referred to as the Queen of Rock'n'Roll.

    She rose to fame as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before her career as a solo performer took off in the 1980s.

    Tina Turner (born Anna Mae Bullock; 26 November 1939) is an American singer and actress whose career has spanned more than 50 years. She has won numerous awards and her achievements in the rock music genre have led many to call her the "Queen of RocknRoll". Turner started out her music career with husband Ike Turner as a member of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. Success followed with a string of hits including "River Deep, Mountain High" and the 1971 hit "Proud Mary".

    With the publication of her autobiography I, Tina (1986), Turner revealed severe instances of spousal abuse against her by Ike Turner prior to their 1976 split and subsequent 1978 divorce. After virtually disappearing from the music scene for several years following her divorce from Ike Turner, she rebuilt her career, launching a string of hits beginning in 1983 with the single "Let's Stay Together" and the 1984 release of her fifth solo album Private Dancer.

    Her musical career led to film roles, beginning with a prominent role as The Acid Queen in the 1975 film
