Three spheres defined by discipline and rigour, culture and determination, which inspire this slim-featured man on a daily basis. Francis Kurkdjian has quickly made a name for himself among the best-known perfumers, arousing admiration and envy, sometimes both at the same time.
Francis owes his talent to his commitment, no doubt helped by his passion for art and for this world of fragrances that he discovered as a teenager. But above all to that desire to never let down those who trust him: a winning attitude that enabled him to create world-renowned fragrances very soon after graduating from the ISIPCA school of perfumery and cosmetics, to design custom fragrances, to give an olfactory touch to art installations all over the world and, in 2009, to create his eponymous fragrance maison, a stake he sold to the LVMH group in 2017. Who is Monsieur Francis Kurkdjian? The short answer would be that Francis Kurkdjian is a world-renowned perfumer. Certainly one of the best noses in the world and most probably the very best fragrance creator at this moment (according to many fragrance buffs, myself included). However, the short answer is so incomplete that it simply warps the real essence of Francis Kurkdjian.
Francis is a person of Renaissance proportions. At the very beginning of my story about him I would like to give you just a few clues about the incredible personality and multiple talents of this modern Leonardo da Vinci: artist, business leader and visionary, chef, ballet dancer, member of one of the highest orders in France, and last but not least a passionate gardener. Of course, I suspect Francis Kurkdjian of having many more aspects to his polymath nature and I will touch on those most intriguing and hidden features of his personality as well.

Francis Kurkdjian (born 14 May 1969) is a French perfumer and businessman of Armenian descent. He is best known for creating the men's fragrance Le Male for Jean Paul Gaultier in 1995, which has become one of the world's best-selling men’s fragrance. He also released Baccarat Rouge 540 in 2015 under his own house, Maison Francis Kurkdjian which is also one of the worlds best selling unisex, niche perfumes.
Kurkdjian co-founded the fragrance house Maison Francis Kurkdjian with Lebanese-French businessman and former Ernst & Young partner Marc Chaya, which has become a niche brand in the fragrance industry. The brand was purchased by LVMH in 2017 for an undisclosed sum.[1] He was the
