Ms. Perry was born in Denver, arriving Feb. 13, 1913, as the child of Antoinette Perry, the actress and director for whom the Tony Awards were named. Her father, Frank Frueauff, worked in the gas and electric industry. Her family had deep roots in Colorado; her great grandparents homesteaded in South Park in 1862.

According to information provided by the American Theatre Wing, Ms. Perry first appeared on the stage in 1929 at the age of 16. She made her Broadway debut in 1931 in John van Druten's After All.

Her mother directed her in Ceiling Zero (1935) and Now You've Done It (1937). In 1947, she assisted producer Gant Gaither on The First Mrs. Fraser. Soon after, she was directing such shows as The Shop at Sly Corner, Love Me Long (starring Shirley Booth) and Mrs. Barry's Etchings. Each only lasted a short time on Broadway.

Margaret Perry was a 26-year-old woman from Portadown, County Armagh, Northern Ireland who was abducted on 21 June 1991.^[1] After a tip from the IRA, her body was found buried across the border in a field in Mullaghmore, County Sligo, Ireland, on 30 June 1992.^[2] She had been beaten to death. Her murder has never been solved.^[3]

Background

Margaret Perry was a civil servant, working at Training and Employment in Lisburn. A Catholic, she lived with her widowed mother, Mary, at Churchill Park, Portadown. She disappeared on 21 June 1991, after she crossed the border into the Republic of Ireland to visit her boyfriend, Gregory Burns, who was hospitalised in Monaghan.^[4] A year later, on 30 June 1992, acting on a tip-off from the IRA via a local priest, the Garda found her body not far from Mullaghmore. She had been strangled and beaten to death with a spade, then buried in a shallow grave in a forest not far from the former estate of the late Lord Mountbatten.^[5]
