He was born in Ankara in 1964. He was educated in marketing and human resources at Boston College. He attended the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard University. He is now the chairman and chief executive officer of Doğuş Holding, the parent company of the Doğuş Group of Companies. The Group operates mainly in service industries, including: Financial Services, Automotive Distribution, Construction, Tourism &Leisure, Media, Real Estate and Energy. He joined the Group operations in the Financial Sector in 1991 by founding Garanti Securities. In three years under his management, Garanti Securities became one of the largest in over 100 brokerage houses in Turkey. In 1994 Mr. Şahenk re-structured Garanti Securities into an Investment Bank of the Group where he acted as the Executive Vice-Chairman. Mr. Şahenk is married and has one child.

Ferit Şahenk, the son of Ayhan Şahenk, is the chairperson of Doğus Holding A.Ş., which operates in media, tourism, and construction. He was also CEO of Garanti Bankası, one of the biggest banks in Turkey until he sold the last 9.95% stakes in Garanti to the Spanish lender BBVA Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria in February 2017. With this sale, the group has completely withdrawn from the finance sector. Ferit Sahenk is one of the richest people in the country. Forbes estimates his assets at 2.5 billion. He founded Garanti Securities and was a CEO of Doğuş Holding and the chairperson of Doğuş Otomotiv. Apart from being an active member of the World Economic Forum he previously chaired various business councils including, the Turkish-German Business Council, Turkish-American Business Council and the Turkish-United Arab Emirates Business Council. He graduated from Boston College with Bachelor’s in Marketing and Human Resources.
