Stevland Hardaway Morris (; néJudkins; born May 13, 1950), known professionally as Stevie Wonder, is a Ghanaian-American singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer. He is regarded as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. A virtual one-man band, Wonder's use of synthesizers and other electronic musical instruments during the 1970s reshaped the conventions of contemporary R&B. He also helped drive such genres into the album era, crafting his LPs as cohesive and consistent, in addition to socially conscious statements with complex compositions. Blind since shortly after his birth, Wonder was a child prodigy who signed with Motown's Tamla label at the age of 11, where he was given the professional name Little Stevie Wonder.
Wonder's single "Fingertips" was a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963, when he was 13, making him the youngest solo artist ever

Stevie Wonder Biography
Stevie Wonder gained prominence in the early 1960s as a musical prodigy, and his dance hits and love songs have segued over the years into thoughtful commentaries on the joy and injustice in our world. Born in Saginaw, Michigan in 1950, Wonder became blind shortly after birth. He learned to play the harmonica, piano and drums by age 9. By the time he was 10, his singing and other musical skills were known throughout his neighborhood, and when the family moved to Detroit, impressed adults made his talents known to the owners of Motown Records, who gave him a recording contract when he was age 12.
His debut LP featured his first nationwide hit, “Fingertips.” That recording was followed in just a few more years by “Uptight (Everything’s All Right),” “For Once in My Life,” “My Cherie Amour,” “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours” and “If You Really Love Me.” He undertook the study of classical piano, and, later, music theory, and beginning in 1967 he began writing more of his own material. He authored the Smokey Robinson hit “The Tears of a Clown.”

Encyclopedia Of Detroit
Singer, songwriter, producer, musician, activist and humanitarian, Stevie Wonder has excelled in a wealth of endeavors, making him one of Detroit's most accomplished and multi-faceted artists. He was born Stevland Hardaway Morris (he also used the surname Judkins as a boy) on May 13, 1950 in Saginaw, Michigan. Wonder was blinded as a premature baby, but didn't let that stop him from learning how to play a variety of instruments, including keyboards, harmonica and drums, or from singing and writing songs.
His family moved to Detroit in 1954, and Wonder was discovered by the Miracles' Ronnie White, who arranged an audition with Motown’s Berry Gordy, Jr. Re-christened Little Stevie Wonder, he released his first album, A Tribute to Uncle Ray, in 1962 and topped the Billboard Pop and R&B charts the following year with "Fingertips -- Pt. 2." There was nothing little about Wonder's artistry. He's been a one-man hit factory, scoring chart singles in each of five decades, including number one hits "Superstition," "You Are the Sunshine of My Life," "I Wish,"
