Tall (6’4”), agile, and ever-so-confident as both actor and singer, especially on the award-winning Broadway stage, Barry Bostwick possesses that certain narcissistic poise, charm, and `elan that reminds one instantly (and humorously) of a Kevin Kline- both were quite brilliant in their respective interpretations of the Pirate King in “The Pirate of Penzance”. Yet, for all his diverse talents (he is a Golden Globe winner and was nominated for the Tony Award three times, winning once), Barry is indelibly caught in a time warp. Even today, 45 years after the fact, he is still associated with the role of nerdy hero Brad Majors in the midnight movie phenomena The Rocky Horror Picture Show. While it is extremely flattering to be part of such a cult institution, Barry’s acting legacy deserves much more than this.

Barry Bostwick was primarily known as a stage actor before winning the role of Brad (a hero) in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Few people realize Barry created the role of Danny Zuko in the original Broadway production of Grease (a part made famous by John Travolta). He received a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.
After filming The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Barry went on to star in the Broadway production of The Robber Bridegroom for which received a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He also starred in the Los Angeles production of Pirates Of Penzance and the Broadway musical Nick And Nora.
Barry has some film credits, which include Movie Movie, Megaforce, Weekend At Bernie's II, and Spy Hard, but he is most recognizable for his television work. His most notable role was of NYC Mayor Randall M. Winston Jr. in the hit ABC sitcom Spin City.

He next attended NYU's Graduate Acting Program, graduating in 1968. His first public performances were in local theater in Foster City (near San Mateo) and also as a circus performer.
In 1970, Bostwick was a member of a pop group called The Klowns, assembled and promoted by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, whose members performed wearing stylized clown makeup and costumes. They had one LP, released in 1970, that was produced by Jeff Barry (famous for producing and writing for The Archies) The LP accompanied a TV Movie (that also featured Jerry Lewis and Sammy Davis, Jr.) and generated one single, “Lady Love,” which charted at #95 on Billboard ‘s Hot 100.
