Biography
Patrick J. Jones is an award winning artist, author and teacher. His work has featured in major U.S. exhibitions, both in NYC and Pennsylvania, and his oil paintings reside in private collections worldwide. He has worked for most major publishers, ad agencies and film studios such as Lucasfilm, Disney and Warner Bros.
Patrick grew up in Belfast, Ireland, during the worst of the ‘troubles' where he spent most of his childhood drawing. After two years in the merchant navy he moved to London and spent fifteen years as an illustrator before once more travelling the world. He now lives and works in Brisbane, Australia, where he teaches Fantasy Figure Drawing Masterclasses online: www.pjartworks.com and live at QUT.
Patrick is the author of four best selling art technique books. His first book, 'Sci-fi & Fantasy Oil Painting Techniques' chronicles his oil painting methods while his companion book, ‘The Anatomy of Style details his figure drawing methods.

Patrick H Jones’ (b. 1987, London, UK) practice delves into themes of absence, control, and introspection. Grief propels the work into existence, acting as the force that drives Jones to contemplate his ever-evolving sense of self as he grapples with the passing of his father. His recent body of work reveals an unravelling, or disentangling, of these complex emotions; though rooted in grief, it no longer stands as the work’s central focus. How does one go about creating their existence in the wake of loss? Jones’ works raises fundamental and universal questions surrounding grief, serving as an ongoing exploration of learning, rumination, and the relinquishment of control – both over the good and bad. In this sense, loss is examined not only as a source of disorientation, but also as a potential catalyst for growth.

Patrick J. Jones is a teacher, artist and author of several books on art. He is known for his online and live workshop figure drawing and oil painting methodology and fantasy art paintings. His style is often compared to Boris Vallejo and Frank Frazetta and his art has appeared on billboards in L.A, London, NYC, and Australia.[1][2][3]
Jones grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland. during the ‘troubles’ in the republican stronghold of ‘The Ardoyne’.[4] He was first published as a teenager in the Irish fantasy magazine ‘Ximoc’ before leaving home to join the merchant navy and spending three years at sea.
In 1984 he left Ireland for London with £100 in his pocket. After a tough start, and a stint of homelessness, he eventually got his first break painting book cover art for Orbit books and found representation with London's ‘'Sarah Brown Agency'’. Thr
