Hans-André Stamm (born 1958) lives as a freelance composer in Leverkusen, near Cologne, in Germany. He studied the piano and organ from the age of seven, giving his first solo organ concert at the age of eleven and a recital at Notre Dame in Paris at sixteen. Studies at the Conservatoire royal de Liège in Belgium were crowned with a diplôme supérieur in 1976, and he then studied Catholic church music in Düsseldorf. Further studies in musicology in Bonn led to the construction of a microtonal pipe organ with 48 tones per octave. Stamm’s compositions include works for organ, chamber music, orchestral music, fairy-tale operas and film music.

The Rapsodia alla latina was composed for an organ concert given by the composer in 2009 in the Cathedral of Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, as part of an International Organ Festival. It was premiered on the one-manual, six-stop 1907 Walcker Cathedral organ, with its mighty room-filling trumpet stop. The piece is dedicated to Gabriela Romero Pinto. Hans-André Stamm (* 1958 in Leverkusen) ist ein deutscher Komponist und Konzertorganist.

Leben

Als Siebenjähriger erhielt Stamm den ersten Musikunterricht. Vier Jahre später folgten erste Auftritte als Konzertorganist im Altenberger Dom. Als Dreizehnjähriger spielte er seine erste Schallplatte ein. Von 1973 bis 1976 studierte er Orgel am Conservatoire Royal de Musique in Lüttich bei Hubert Schoonbroodt. Es folgte ein Studium der katholischen Kirchenmusik an der Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf. Er lebt als freischaffender Komponist und Organist in Leverkusen.[1]

    born in 1958 in Leverkusen, Germany, started to study organ and piano at the age of seven.

    With 11 he started to tour in Germany and abroad as an organ virtuoso.

    His first recording was published when he was 13. As soon as he turned 16 he gave a solo recital at Notre Dame cathedral, Paris.

    From 1973 to 1976 he studied organ at the conservatory of Liège, Belgium with Hubert Schoonbroodt. Having obtained the 'Premier Prix avec distinction' and the 'Diplôme supérieur' (1976) he graduated at the Robert Schumann Conservatory at Düsseldorf.

    Studies in musicology at the University of Bonn led to the construction of the Enharmonic Pipe Organ according to the plans of Prof. Dr. Martin Vogel, an instrument in just intonation with 48 pipes per octave.

    Since 1983 he composed and published organ-, chamber- and orchestral music and recorded several CDs. Currently he is living as a freelance composer and organ virtuoso in Leverkusen, Germany.

    As organ virtuoso Stamm plays as a soloist and in ensembles together with soloists (trumpet, piccolo, violin and saxophone). The
