Swami Avdheshanand Girji who is called as “Swamiji”, was born in 24th November, 1962 in Khurja, Bulandsher, UP, India.

Swamiji is blessed with the name “SWAMI Avdheshanand GIRI MAHARAJ” by his true seekers of the truth with saintly heights. Swamii was born near the beginning of Kartik Purnima and he belongs to a high caste Brahmin family. In Himalayas, he passed his most of years as a “Hermit”. Swami Avdheshanand Giri is an Indian Hindu spiritual guru, writer and philosopher. He is the current Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of Juna Akhara.[1][2] Juna Akhara is the largest Akhara for Naga Sadhus in India.[3][4] Giri has initiated about one million Naga sadhus.[5][6] His Ashram is situated at Kankhal, Haridwar.[7] He is the president of Hindu Dharm Acharya Sabha and also a board member of the World Council of Religious Leaders.[8][9][10][11]

Early life

Giri was born in Khurja, Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, India in a Brahmin family. He said that during his childhood, he often talked about his previous birth. He left home for Sannyasa at the age of 17.[12]

After leaving his house for Sannyasa, He met Swami Avdhoot Prakash who was an expert and had a great knowledge of the Vedas and scriptures. Giri learned Vedant philosophy and Yoga from him.[13]

Childhood

Swamiji was born in a respectable brahmin family. As an infant, he had no interest in playing with toys or making friends. He used to be lost in the memories of the events of his previous births and quite often used to share these with his family members. He was ordained to be a saint in this life, as he put it.

At the tender age of two and a half years, he displayed an interest in becoming a wandering monk.
